Daily Game Drives

De Wildt Cheetah Centre

We offer Daily Game Drives and Tours to De Wildt Cheetah Centre. We can also create a custom tour package that will suit your needs best.

Information about De Wildt Cheetah Centre

The Centre was established in South Africa in 1971, in the past known as the De Wildt Cheetah Centre, it has recently been changed to The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre as a tribute to the woman who has devoted her life to the survival of the Cheetah species. During  2011 The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre celebrated it's 40th anniversary.

At his Centre you can experience the speed of the Cheetah and be enlightened on how this project saved the Cheetah from extinction, furthermore part of the invaluable projects hosted at De Wildt are the breeding of Wild Dog and Brown Hyena.

Cheetahs are an endangered species and the bulk of our free roaming population occurs on farmland areas outside protected reserves.  It is essential for the survival of the species to find non-lethal methods of protecting livestock from predators in order to reduce conflict between farmers and Cheetahs.

Anatolian Guarding Dog Project

The Turkish Anatolian Shepherd, bred to protect livestock from bears and wolves, has a history of over 6,000 years in the arid Anatolian Plateau region of Turkey, an area of little rain, extreme heat in summer and cold in winter, much like parts of Southern Africa.  Anatolian Shepherds have a medium-length coat and coarse, light-coloured hair that allows for effective cooling of the body while maintaining an insulation factor.  These dogs are physically imposing; males are normally 60+ cm at the shoulder and weigh 70-75 kg.  They can reach a top speed of 75 km/h and go days with minimal food and water when necessary.

De Wildt Cheetah Centre offers game drives in an open vehicle and comprises a range of interesting exhibits and a unique sensory trail that offers everyone, including blind and partially sighted visitors, the chance to experience a natural landscape first hand.

Linda Cufflin, - who is the driving force behind the project had an idea is to let nature speak for itself, and to offer visitors authentic experiences with the wild rather than museum like encounters.

Trained guides accompany visitors on this out of the ordinary experience.
